Hello,
First of all, thank you everyone for all your contributions, support, and feedback. This blog is nothing without its contributors and followers because— well, it’s a confession blog. It was a long, bumpy ride and I hope that in the end I managed to some things right, and nevertheless I could not have done this without each and every single one of you.
At its peak, the blog had at least four-hundred followers. I stopped checking after the pace of the blog slowed down, and followers started to (understandably) leave when the blog was put on hiatus. I started this blog because I realized that a confession blog serves a real function in the BJD community— the massive popularity of the original BJD Confession blog proved that. Outlets are healthy, and I hoped that by creating an outlet, there would be a safe place where the BJD community could interact in ways they were unable to do before. I sought to remove the issue of photo use by creating a text-only confession blog, and did so with the blessing of the original BJD Confession administrator.
However, I never intended the blog to become a major time consumer in my life— hence why when I conceived running it, I had meant to only publish the asks that were in the inbox. Making images was all fine and dandy too at first too, but the demand of work was too high for me in the end as the blog became more and more popular. High popularity means that the blog was doing well— it signified that not only were people reading, they wanted to continue reading and contributing to the blog. At the same time, it meant more confessions, responses, miscellaneous messages to sort through, and so on.
I found myself having to read all the other blogs to make sure that there weren’t duplicate submissions. I spent most of my time cross-checking new confessions with old confessions, to make sure that the ones that get put on the “to-do” list aren’t too similar to existing ones. There was much feedback to read everyday so that minute adjustments could be made— font too small, background too dark, numbers are messed up. There was also criticism to consider— this tag is insufficient, this topic should be banned, the replies are cumbersome. Like I had mentioned before, this isn’t an unbearable amount of work for some people. In the context of my life though, it’s too much for me to freely dedicate my time to without serious consequences on my other priorities.
One of the things I did not foresee about this blog was ever needing to find helpers for it, and as a result I had created it as a sub-blog to my main account. That meant that the helpers were limited in what they were able to do, and that the blog itself was also limited in its capabilities. As a solution to many problems, I talked it out with one of the helpers— who wishes to remain anonymous, but will be inheriting the blog— and we decided that it would be best to delete the sub-blog to revive as a proper, on-its-own blog. Part of that was creating an email for the blog to be associated with, so that the new blog administrator will be able to be contacted easily outside of Tumblr, and so that if the blog was ever to be passed on again they’ll get a completely separate, clean package that is not connected to anyone.
The new administrator has received all of the confessions I had ever received, the original graphics, the template, the altered HTML layout, and any other fiddly thing I could think of handing over so that she can continue the blog fully. Unfortunately, any applicants to help will need to be redirected to her. As far as I know, she is not looking for any helpers right now, so if the time comes it will be up to her to decide on what kind of helper she is looking for and how to contact her.
I apologize if this move from a sub-blog to a blog has been an uncomfortable experience for some, but I think for the long run it’s one of the best things that can be done for the blog.
Well, that’s my parting message that is meant to be a transition between the sub-blog and the new blog. I will still be around in the doll hobby, of course. If there are any questions that I may possibly be able to address, you can still contact me if necessary. I’ll include some basic contact information, just in case.
Once again, thank you all for being a part of the sub-blog. There would be no BJD Text Confessions if there wasn’t a BJD community behind it to contribute to it. I hope you enjoy the new blog, and take care.
